Kristiana C. Murray
About me:
I am true lover of all things creative, stylish, and design oriented. My talents seem to run the gamut depending on the time, place, need, desire or inspiration. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Kansas. This is where I truly learned to pull from deep within to create work to express my ideas and emotions. Post college included an Interior Design position in Kansas City where I was able to combine my love for textiles and color and help others make decisions for their homes. Back to Chicago and I started a career as a visual stylist at Neiman Marcus developing my sense of merchandising, window displays and of course fashion, fashion, fashion! Since I always worked with children, there was something pulling at me as I was not fulfilled dressing people in the "right look". Back to school! I recieved my Masters in Teaching Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Soon after, I gained my dream teaching job in Oak Park! My style of teaching reflects my personal style and interests with many avenues to create and a playful attitude towards making and learning about art. I am a Choice based teacher encouraging students to explore their own ideas while I act as their mentor and facilitator to help them achieve their goals. When I am not teaching... I hang with my family, practice yoga, and am always working on some kind of a creation.
